Memphians Rejoice at Magnificat Day 2014
The event was not only attended by Americans spanning 38 states but also attendees from Canada, the U.K., France, and Lichtenstein.
The day's events included liturgical celebrations of Morning and Evening prayer in addition to Mass but also incorporated talks by two well-known speakers: Father Peter John Cameron, OP, Editor-in-Chief of the Magnificat publication, and Father Robert Barron, founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries, rector of the Mundelein Seminary, and the host of the CATHOLICISM series. About 2,000 were on hand at the Cannon Center in Memphis for Magnificat Day.
The day ended with a candle-lit procession of the Eucharist through the heart of downtown Memphis followed by a Benediction that was led by Bishop Terry J. Steib, SVD of the Diocese of Memphis and attended by several hundred people.
For Lumen Civitatis, it was its initial program, one which incorporated components of its three-fold mission: Catholic culture, Catholic education, and Catholic leadership.
